The rest of Spring Vac, sort of
So I’m going to do a fast forward version of my spring vac because it was over a month ago and since then I’ve been super busy. So here goes:
- Went to Robin Island, saw Mandelas prison cell
- Went to a local mall and food market which was delicious
- Explored/Ate our way through Long Street= it was amazing and we all were in need of some real food
- Went to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, saw the penguins and stood on the tip of Africa
- Went to a house party and met some cool people, also had the cops called on us (oops)
- Went to District 6 museum and learned a lot!
- Shopped at Green Market Square and bought all my souvenirs and gifts
- SAW THE WONDERFUL BETSY KAEBERLE AND TALKED ABOUT HER AMAZING LIFE AT GRASSROOTS SOCCER (SHH love 4ever)
- Took a tram/oversized ski lift thing to the top of table mountain and took all the pictures
- Drove to Stellenbosch and had an entire hostel to ourselves
- Went shark diving/ sat on a boat for a few hours and threw up
- Visited Plett again and had a real braai
- Zip lining!!!!
- Hung out on the beach
- Experienced the party that is Boat Races
- Slept in our car
- Had the time of my life :)
What a crazy/awesome experience and by far the best spring break in September I’ve ever had. The brave souls who went on this trip with me were troopers and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of friends <3
So, when we got back I had a rough start to the term but eventually got back into the routine of going to class and being a social person. This term was definitely a bit more hectic and a heavier work load (hence the zero time I’ve been able to dedicate to blogging) and then I had the sickness... which I’ll save for another post. Anyway its been super busy here but now I am FINALLY DONE MY SEMESTER!!!!!!!! YAY I DID IT! Tomorrow I leave for a mini roadtrip up the wild coast and then I’m back on the 3rd to study for my exams (ughhhh). I’ll have exams on the 11th, 13th 14th, 18th, and technically the 19th (its a take home). My flight was rescheduled for the 19th so by the 20th I will be back in the good ol’ US of A. I’m truly going to miss my international family here, they have been so amazing and supportive this past month and a half, and I wouldnt have made it through this semester without them. On November 19th there are going to be so many tears, but until then I’m going to keep smiling and keep loving life and my friends here in SA.
Cheers,
A happy American
